Howdy!
My husband has worked in the natural gas field for 10 years and just recently took a position working on the rigs in Louisiana. They are far out in a bay - but not really "offshore". He is working 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off...and in 15 years of being together, we have never been apart more than 5 days. We have 3 young daughters (11,9, and 5) - and he is a very involved Dad. Long story short - he is on his first hitch and I miss him terribly. I am a 4th grade teacher and stay busy during the day....but the weekends and nights are hard. I came here looking for other wives going through similar issues. I think it is a great idea to belong to a group/forum of similar people!
So hello y'all. I look forward to hearing from you....

Forum: Introductions

Doing story on Texas Oil Companies in Libya during the Arab Spring

Hey all. This looks like as good a place as any to make an introduction like this.

I'm a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, and I'm working on my final paper for graduation. It's a business story about what effect, if any, that the Arab Spring (the revolution in Libya, specifically) had on Texan oil field companies.

I've read the financial statements, but I'm guessing that those only tell one side of the story. I was hoping to find some workers, with any job description working in any capacity, that might have been in Libya, or perhaps have worked anywhere in the Middle East during that time and might be able to tell me a little bit about working there. Heck - even if it wasn't during that time, I'd still like to hear from you.

Feel free to send me a private message, and we can take it from there.

My thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
-Fred

Forum: Introductions
