Mainline transmission pipeline worker here.

I work pipe from 20" to 36".  Line locates, plate changes, compression (vintage 1947 Clark BA-6 units) and engine/compressor maintenance.  Pressures from 700# to 1500#.

55 y/o, married with family.  30+ years continuous service and experience in the industry.

Kick back and have a beer, when appropriate.  My philosophy.  But don't drink and drive.  Safety, and sane behavior, is the priority to this survivor.

Hi all,
 
I'm new to the industry and this forum, and hoping to learn alot from you guys on here!  My first post is just for some info/advice on any experiences with the TAM Inflatable Packer.
 
We are plugging and abandoning a well as a result of severe losses and large cavings.  We have considered using the TAM Inflatable Packer to plug the well in the 17-1/2" open hole and then set a balanced cement plug on top of it.  However, we do not have any experience using the TAM inflatable packer.  Does anyone on here have any feedback on their experiences with running and setting of this packer? Did it work well etc?
 
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My resume won't be ready for another couple weeks, but I need to know where to get started.

Long-story-short; I was a US Navy high pressure plate and pipe welder for seven years specializing stick, TIG and MIG welding. I've spent the remainder of my time in the Army as both an NCO and Armor (Tanker) Officer. As a retiring O-4 (Major) I need to know where I should start at in this new career. I'd love to get back to welding or maybe HSE work on a platform.

I have a US Navy high pressure plate and pipe welding certification (NEC 49/55) and a BS from Middle Tennessee State University in Agri-Business.

Can anyone tell me where to begin?

I'm a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, and I'm working on my final paper for graduation. It's a business story about what effect, if any, that the Arab Spring (the revolution in Libya, specifically) had on Texan oil field companies.

I've read the financial statements, but I'm guessing that those only tell one side of the story. I was hoping to find some workers, with any job description working in any capacity, that might have been in Libya, or perhaps have worked anywhere in the Middle East during that time and might be able to tell me a little bit about working there. Heck - even if it wasn't during that time, I'd still like to hear from you.
